Skype account hijackings?
"We're still trying to understand how the attackers are commandeering the accounts. There are no reports of phishing emails or other attempts at social engineering. And the Skype client encrypts usernames and passwords during the login process, making a man-in-the-middle attack unlikely."

Skype is yet another among many VOIP programs that offer multiple ways to use SMS text messaging, video conferences, etc. etc. However it is not safe by any means... with the 4.0 release, silk has been introduced. Skype was/is simply a very simple and easy means of a communication medium which is why the large number of people with accounts on it. Those with more computer technical know-how realize Skype is not the best solution by any means. In the area of text-based communication, IRC is more secure compared to Skype even though Skype does not have to deal with the complications of large IRC networks and DDoS attacks, etc. Some people have even created multiple accounts and Skype simply does not care about deducting those from the total of legit accounts.
