Skype Live Callers to Web Broadcast

Will this be the first use of Skype for a web broadcast? Innovation in action!

"Today on the 160th live broadcast of the Script School Radio show, we are going to be discussing and demonstrating the use of Skype to allow live callers into our live web streamed radio show. For those who are interested in seeing and hearing a demo of this capability, stop on by and learn how." Things that

Any word on how this can be achieved with a mixer so you can play sound clips while on skype?

There are a number of creative ways you can do it. It can be done with a mixer. It can also be done with a second sound card. See iPodRadio.http://www.henshall.com/blog/archives/001099.html

Thank you for responding. I love the site. Here's what I would like to do:

- I want to do a live broadcast.. streaming to a server.

- I have a Mixer, 2 XLR Mics, and a PC.

- I'd like to be able to play music/sound clips from my PC throughout the show.

- I'd like to be able to take calls on Skype and play the same music/sound clips so that the caller can hear them.

- The audience should hear me, the music/clips, and the caller.

- The caller should hear me and the music/clips. Not their voice.

This is where I get stuck. What are my options? I'm using Windows XP.

Thank you for all your help!

To the last commenter, DJNEWSTYLE, I think I just wrote an article that may help you out a bit.

I was in the same boat as you-- needing to take in caller audio and mix it into the broadcast. A telephone hybrid was cost-prohibitive. Sure, I could get a used Analog hybrid for around $100, but then I would have to adjust it for every call, and have an extra phone line for the show.

I found that you can use Skype to do exactly what you need, and so I wrote this article:

I hope it helps other Streaming Broadcasters...!

Thanks Mike!

I had figured this out about a month after I had posted this.

I will check out your article to see if you came up with a better way.

If you want, you can Skype into my radio show! Get in touch with me on http://www.DJNewStyle.com
