eBay relents: Add Skype buttons to your profiles and auctions
Don Albert's Tuesday post invites sellers to Skypify
themselves. At least a little bit, with Skype buttons. Ina Steiner explains it.
About time. (relieved, petulant)
How long since eBay bought Skype? What has been the holdup?
Much more needed.
(multiple Skype IDs per eBay account, free basic call center service for sellers, invitation-to-chat language tailored to the auction, buttons influenced by seller availability/schedule)
Tough noogies, Jajah.

get real... what about identitity issues ? and security. remove the dual login feature without notification. who wants a business phone on which virtually anybody can dual-login (wiretap) without the original user knowing it... fix it. fix the basics.

Jan, I agree there are many problems. And you should be alerted when another instance of Skype logs in using your account. In fact I'd build on that and say that there should be a list of running instances. So I could see that I'm logged in on my mobile phone via the iSkoot service (whom I trust with my Skype ID and password), my Nokia tablet via a Skype client, my IPEVO Solo with embedded Skype, my laptop, and my desktop. Maybe someday I'll be able to login via my TiVo (just needs a microphone, webcam, and a TiVo keyboard for chatting).
However managing your logins is just a start if you want to upgrade Skype's identity architecture to enterprise or military grade.
IDs must have full life cycles, including retirement or death. IDs must be different than "face names" or personas as seen by others, so you may have pseudonymity. Each persona should have its own profile, tailoring discoverability and presence. Personas must be transferable to other IDs. Multiple IDs must be able to share a persona. You should have control over who sees which persona, at the ID and group level. You should be able to delegate authority over some aspects of your account (like checking your voice mail or using iSkoot) without giving out your login. Third party provisioning of IDs and personas.
Lots to improve. Looking forward to seeing Skype engineers at an Internet Identity Workshop sometime.
